The title of experiment is "The thermal property of polymer thin film".
Purpose
In my laboratory, I study high polymer nanomaterials. Therefore I cover the surface of spherical fine inorganic particles in a high polymer film. And, using various apparatuses, I check high polymer filmy themal properties of matter.
Describe experiment
Materials
・silica
・methyl methacrylate monomer
・p-styrenesulfonic acid sodium salt (NaSS)
・potassium persulfate (KPS)
・3-Methacryloxypropyltrimethoxysilane (MPTMS)
・polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP)
・poly(allylamine hydrochloride) (PAH)
・tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS)
Particle Synthesis
In the first , a suspension of silica cores was bubbled with nitrogen . To the suspension was then added MPTMS . After being stirred , KPS and NaSS were added and stirred . Methyl methacrylate monomer was added as an inner shell source to the suspension . The polymerization was conducted at [MPTMS] , [KPS] , [NaSS] , and a silica . To further increase the thickness of the methyl methacrylate shell, the second polymerization of methyl methacrylate was conducted with KPS initiator at a core/shell particle .
In the second , the doubly Methyl methacrylate-coated silica particles were coated with silica. A suspension of the Methyl methacrylate-coated particles was added to a solution containing PAH and NaCl. The concentrations of the doubly Methyl methacrylate-coated particles, PAH, and NaCl were in the mixture. After two centrifugation steps to remove non-adsorbed PAH and NaCl, the particles were redispersed of an ethanolic solution containing PVP. Two more centrifugation steps were used to remove excess PVP, and particles were redispersed of ethanol. To the ethanolic solution were added ammonia solution, silica sources of TEOS, and aminopropyltriethoxysilane . Methyl methacrylate particles coated with silica were dried, followed by heat treatment for 4 h in air in an oven at 500 °C .
Result
I can not make samples that measuring thermal properties now. So I will continue testing it many times. I cover the silica in various types of high polymer films and want to study each heat properties of matter from now on.
Thank you for reading about my experiment!
